High Quality Nature Sounds are often hard to come by...NOT ANYMORE.
Nature sounds are all around us, but few of us have the resources to go out and capture exactly what it is that we need for any given reason. Simple things like outdoor sounds may be impossible because of a lack of proper equipment, and wind sounds may be too hard because of a poor microphone set up causing wind interference on your track. Without such things as free nature sound effects you would be left needing to find the sounds yourself, and that would take time away from the project that you are trying to complete.
Still other sound effects that you need to record, may be too risky; storm sounds would involve you being out in the storm, and thus risking being struck by lightening-something that few of us like to play around with. In attempting to get the sound effects for a thunderstorm, or sound effects for the rain you also risk damage to your equipment from it getting wet, thus making such an exercise very costly. Using an umbrella to protect your equipment from the falling rain would risk adding unwanted sounds to the tracks as the rain hits the umbrella.
Other storm sounds, such at the sounds of tornado sirens or even the tornado sound effects themselves would carry a great risk to your life and safety if you were to get close enough to record them, and further away you wouldn't get good enough results. Even thunderstorm sounds carry the same risk to a lesser extent. A similar risk to your health would be carried by trying to record bear sounds-not something that many people would like to do!
Some sounds are simply not geographically or financially possible. Wave sounds, beach sounds, and jungle sound effects would be next to impossible if you do not live right on top of those particular locations, as could water sound effects if the running water sounds that you wish to capture are from a stream or waterfall. For a land locked person living in the middle of Iowa, the transportation costs to the beach could be huge.
Nature sound effects, such as such as Water Sounds, and Wind Sounds require the right weather conditions and the time and equipment for the recordings. Recording animals or insects bears many difficulties as well. You are hoping that the particular animal or insect is feeling cooperative at the particular time that you wish to record them.
Luckily there are easier ways to get the stock sound effects that you need, at low cost and with permission to then use them in your own productions. There are royalty free web sites to be found that offer such things as nature sounds free downloads for little to no cost to you. The sound effects that you need without the risk to yourself or your equipment, and without the inconvenience of having to drive to a distant location, or hope on the weather or mother nature to cooperate with your recording efforts to get what you want.
